The method involves controlling a controller of a steering force (113) through a one way path (110) and a feedback of the steering force through a return path (120). The one way path and the return path are decoupled from each other and a gain curve (111) is integrated into the one way path, and another gain curve (122) is integrated into the return path. The former gain curve is defined by a relationship between a manual torque initiated by a driver on the steering wheel of the motor vehicle and an assisting torque (F-ue) generated by an actuator.
