Method for determining queue length of traffic objects and/or vehicle groups, involves determining numerically identified traffic density by interpolation and core approximations at specific order, with extreme and/or turning points
The method involves assigning velocity to vehicles or transport objects from measurements of optical sensor (2) and forming a continuous function of local velocity. The numerical calculation of function of the local traffic density is carried out by using the continuity equation with local velocity. The numerically identified traffic density is determined by interpolation and core approximations at second order, with extreme and/or turning points (x0,x1,xW,1,xW,2,xW,3), so that continuous density function can be determined. An independent claim is included for a device for determination of queue length of traffic objects and/or vehicle groups.
