The method involves independently determining input variables and/or calibration parameters by analyzing a signal path, where a computed value of output variables of a physical model is based on the input variables and/or the calibration parameters. The determined input variables and/or the determined calibration parameters are characterized in the physical model, and transferred to an application tool via an interface during analysis of the signal path. A specification model (32), a documentation model (34), and an implementation model (36) are provided in a plane (30). An independent claim is also included for a device for performing an analysis of a signal path of a physical model.
