The unit (1) has an automatic gear box (12) including two input shafts (2) associated with two electric motors (6) such that the gear box is coupled with the motors. Each input shaft supports a set of driving gears (4). A secondary shaft (3) of the gear box supports a set of driven gears (5), and is intended to cooperate with a crown wheel (9). The driving gears of each input shaft constantly gears with the driven gears of the secondary shaft. Each pair of the driven gears and the driving gears defines gear ratio such that each input shaft includes multiple gear ratios than the driving gears. An independent claim is also included for a method for managing a power unit.
