The method involves directly or indirectly providing future moment of next use (104) of an interface device by a user. An electric standby mode (102) of the interface device is directly or indirectly provided, where the interface device consumes less energy through the electric standby mode whenever the next use occurs after the predetermined time, and energy is saved based on deterioration of operation of an electronic processor with respect to its normal functioning. A major standby mode (103) is provided, in which the electronic processor is stopped from working. An independent claim is also included for an interface device for managing a home network.
