On-board battery charger for e.g. electric car, has unit to control current circulating between voltage reducing and step-up circuits so that current is higher than current in input of reducing circuit and current circulating in battery
The charger (1) has a voltage reducing circuit (4) whose input is connected to a power supply network e.g. three-phase network (2), and whose output is connected to a voltage step-up circuit (5). The voltage step-up circuit is connected to a battery (3). A control unit controls current circulating between the voltage reducing circuit and the voltage step-up circuit so that the current is higher than current in the input of the reducing circuit and higher than current circulating in the battery. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an on-board battery charger in a car.
