The method involves increasing an engine brake by successive increments (4) until falling beyond a maximum acceleration threshold if acceleration of a vehicle is above the threshold. The acceleration of the vehicle is compared with a minimal acceleration threshold (5) when the acceleration of the vehicle is less than the maximum acceleration threshold. The engine brake is decreased by successive increments (6) until falling above the minimal acceleration threshold when the acceleration of the vehicle is lower than the minimal acceleration threshold. An independent claim is also included for a control device for controlling an electrical motor of a car.
