The method involves coupling of a portable terminal e.g. smart phone, (E1) with a vehicle i.e. car, equipment e.g. radio, that functions according to wireless communication standard such that the terminal and the equipment are able to communicate applications and/or functions accessible via a user interface. A speed of the vehicle is determined (E2). The terminal is passed (E3) to function in an operating mode i.e. automobile mode, in an automatic manner in which the applications and/or functions are accessible via another interface when speed of the vehicle is higher than a threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a portable terminal.
