The method involves forming a separate bowl (4) with a crown wall portion (8) that exhibits an external surface whose shape is complementary to a central opening (2) of a braking element e.g. brake disk (1), where the wall portion has a greater dimension than that of the central opening at room temperature. The bowl is cooled by liquid gas i.e. liquid nitrogen, such that the wall portion obtains certain dimension for allowing insertion of the wall portion into the central opening. The bowl is engaged into the central opening and held in a position by lock expansion of the bowl. An independent claim is also included for a braking element.
