The device has a back hatch (4) hinged at a rear opening (9) defined between side walls (10) arranged on sides of a plate. The back hatch is swivelled and retained in a horizontal position to form an extension of the plate for partially receiving a load. Branches of a swivelling arch (7) are articulated on a support element (8) extending vertically on sides of the rear opening. The swivelling arch is pivotable around a pivot axis of the plate to arrange in a horizontal use position by forming a retaining element of the load when the hatch is in the horizontal position.
