PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate image and height information which are focused on each pixel position from a plurality of pickup images whose focal positions are different such that focal points are properly corrected across a wide area.;SOLUTION: A plurality of images whose focal positions are different are acquired (step S1), and the acquisition of a gray scale image, the generation of a multiple resolution image and the generation of probability distribution are performed (steps S2 to S14). When an evaluation function obtained by adding a cost function based on the probability distribution and a penalty function is defined as E(X) with respect to allocation X of focal positions, whether or not E(X*)E(X) is established for another allocation X* (step S105) is determined (step S107). When this is satisfied, X* is substituted into X, and steps S105 and S107 are executed again.
