PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce oscillation of an agitation apparatus even when the number of revolutions of an impeller is made high in order to improve reaction efficiency in hot pig iron preliminary processing that is performed while agitating hot pig iron by using an agitation body including a rotation axis and an impeller and rotating the impeller immersed in the hot pig iron.;SOLUTION: In the hot pig iron preliminary processing method, an impeller 3 attached to a tip of a rotation axis 2 having such a shape that the width is made a tapered from a top edge toward a bottom edge is immersed in a hot pig iron 5 in a refining vessel 4, and the immersed impeller is rotated, thereby the hot pig iron and an additive 6 are agitated to perform the hot pig iron preliminary processing method, and a resonance frequency of primary flexure of the rotation axis is made larger than the number of revolutions of the impeller that agitates the hot pig iron to perform the agitation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
