PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for designing a vertical-axis wind turbine bearing, capable of improving power generation efficiency by smoothly rotating a shaft.SOLUTION: A method for designing a bearing rotatably supporting a vertical shaft of a vertical-axis wind turbine selects a bearing located in a region I surrounded by curves, by evaluating a curve indicative of a relation between rolling-groove curvatures and ball ratios for satisfying a load rating required for the bearing, a curve indicative of a relation between rolling-groove curvatures and ball ratios for satisfying a static rating required for the bearing, and a curve indicative of a relation between rolling-groove curvatures and ball ratios for satisfying a start torque required for the bearing.
