PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology which, when amplitude modulation and phase modulation are performed in parallel on one and the same carrier signal, reduces the number of coded symbol errors for a phase modulated signal.;SOLUTION: In a coded symbol #2, signal points on the inside of a constellation are concentrated; in a coded symbol #1, however, signal points on the outside of the constellation are concentrated. Although a symbol error tends to occur in the coded symbol #2, a symbol error is less likely to occur in the coded symbol #1. Whether a symbol error can be corrected depends on the number of symbol errors, so that even when there is an increased number of bit errors in a coded symbol like the coded symbol #2, the number of symbol errors in a plurality of coded symbols such as the coded symbols #1, #2, and so on can be reduced by concentrating the bit errors, making it possible to correct symbol errors completely.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
