PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an activated carbon fiber activation treatment method for exhaust gas treatment capable of showing desired desulfurization performance.;SOLUTION: In the activated carbon fiber activation treatment method for exhaust gas treatment, a carbon fiber is activated and treated in a steam (H2O) atmosphere within a temperature range of 800-950°C, and micropore sizes of ≥2.0 nm are formed on the surface of the carbon fiber. While maintaining the pore size, the fiber diameter of the carbon fiber is reduced to make an activation carbon fiber. After that, it is burned in an inert atmosphere within a temperature range of 950-1,100°C to remove an oxygen functional group on the surface. By means of activation treatment, pores of around 20 Å are formed on the surface of the carbon fiber, and by burning treatment, the oxygen functional group attached on the surface is removed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
