PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional model dividing device and a three-dimensional model dividing method for reconstructing an independent three-dimensional entity.;SOLUTION: In a plane detection step, a plane is detected, wherein triangles included in a three-dimensional model rendered with input triangular meshes are connected mutually and triangles with normal lines in the same direction or triangles with normal lines in the opposite directions are gathered. In a profile pattern extraction step, a profile pattern as a profile of the three-dimensional model is extracted from the plate detected by the plane detection step by mutually connecting border sides belonging to only one triangle among the respective sides of the respective triangles on the plane. In a profile pattern division step, the profile pattern extracted by the profile pattern extraction step is divided into a plurality of subpatterns not overlapping to each other. In a three-dimensional entity reconstruction step, a three-dimensional entity rendered with the triangular meshes is reconstructed for each of the subpatterns divided by the profile pattern division step.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
