PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a high-strength α+β type titanium alloy which has higher toughness than a conventional Fe-containing high-strength α+β type titanium alloy.;SOLUTION: The high-strength α+β type titanium alloy superior in toughness includes, by mass%, 4.5% or more but less than 5.5% Al, 0.5% or more but less than 1.4% Fe, 2.0% or more but less than 3.5% Mo, less than 0.10% Si, 0.05% or more but less than 0.20% O, less than 0.01% C and the balance titanium with unavoidable impurities, and a method for manufacturing the same is also disclosed. The titanium alloy can improve the toughness of both a base metal part and a weld joint while maintaining the high strength and high corrosion resistance, by setting the Fe content at less than 1.4% and further optimizing components of Mo and O. Thereby, the titanium alloy provides wider industrial applications for a structural member and a weld joint than a conventional high-strength titanium alloy, and obtains wide effects of its high strength, high toughness and high corrosion resistance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
