Cloning of the cytochrome p450 gene from Nicotiana (Nicotiana)

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a p450 enzyme in the genus Nicotiana and a nucleic acid sequence for encoding the p450 enzyme, and a method for modifying a plant phenotype by using the enzyme and nucleic acid sequence. PSOLUTION: This method for producing a transgenic plant is provided by linking the nucleic molecule with a promotor functioning in the plant so as to be functional, to form a plant transforming vector, transforming the plant, and then regenerating the transformed plant from transformed plant cells. The method wherein, the nucleic acid molecule is RNA interference orientation, is also provided. Thereby, the method for increasing or decreasing nornicotine level in the plant is provided.
