PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently achieve summarizing.;SOLUTION: The summarizing support system comprises: a counting section that receives an instruction on a first characteristic-phrase based on which a collection of processing objects is summarized, counts the number of first documents that is the number of documents including the first characteristic-phrase, and updates, in a storage which stores the number of documents including the characteristic-phrase instructed as the characteristic-phrase on which the collection is to be summarized for each collection, the number of documents included in the collection of processing objects based on the number of first documents; a difference calculation section that calculates a difference between the number of first documents and the number of documents included in one upper collection in the collections to be processed when the collections are arranged in order from a larger number of documents; a determination section that determines, based on the difference, about the collection to be processed, if a condition is satisfied even when a next instruction including a second characteristic-phrase to be newly summarized is received, the order of the one-upper collection is maintained; and an output section that, when the condition is satisfied, proposes any one of collections lower than the collection to be processed as a new processing object.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
