PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly precise method for measuring radioactivity of a sample with the thickness of several tens μm-cm order using an ultra-low temperature micro-calorimeter with high detection efficiency and a low background.;SOLUTION: A radiation absorption layer comprising a radiation absorbing material is layered on a radiation generating measurement sample or the radiation absorbing material is mixed to the radiation generating measurement sample to form a structure capable of applying a part or the whole of the energy of radiation emitted from the measurement sample to the inside of the measurement sample. The radiation generating sample 100 comprising the radiation absorption layer or including the radiation absorbing material in the interior is brought into thermal contact with the ultra-low temperature micro-calorimeter or a radiation absorber 112 of the ultra-low temperature micro-calorimeter with the absorber, so that, when radionuclide in the measurement sample decays, a part or the whole of the radiation energy emitted at an extremely high probability is transmitted, as heat, to the radiation absorber 112 coming into thermal contact with the ultra-low micro-calorimeter and the ultra-low micro-calorimeter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
