PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution in which the concentration of bromate ions is low.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution comprises a first step to obtain gaseous chlorine (A) by vaporizing the total amount of liquid chlorine (M) containing bromine, a second step to obtain liquid chlorine (B) by liquefying a part of gaseous chlorine (A), a third step to separate liquid chlorine (B) obtained in the second step and remaining gaseous chlorine (C) not liquefied and a fourth step to obtain the sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution by reacting gaseous chlorine (C) separated in the third step with a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution. It is characterized by that the concentration of BrO3- in the obtained sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution is less than 20 wppm in terms of an available chlorine concentration of 13.0%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
