Cancer is one of the most abhorred diseases, and it is considered as a leading cause of death globally. Thus, researchers are incessantly working to develop new and better tools for its diagnosis and therapy. The current application , addresses the use of the novel Multiple - element Magnetite Nanoparticles (MMN) (Rrgistered Patent#(2450),Ministry of Industry and Trade, Amman, Jordan.2008) as a tool for tumor diagnosis and therapy. To this effect, the ability of MMN to bind or enter into tumor cells or normal cells was assessed in vitro and in vivo using transition electron microscope (TEM). Also ,the cytotoxic effect of MMN on in vitro grown tumor cell lines and normal cells was assessed. In addition , the effect of the MMN on the in vivo growth of murine fibrosarcoma tumors was assessed. Data in the (Examples) section of this application , demonstrate that MMN readily entered and bound to tumor cells grown in vitro or in vivo. Moreover, MMN exhibited significant cytotoxic effect on various human tumor cell lines and was able to inhibit tumor growth in vivo. Thus, our data demonstrate that the newly generated MMN have great potential to be used in cancer diagnosis and therapy.
