A method for the prediction of hypertensive disease development involves estimation of insertional-deletion (I/D) polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene. The prediction of hypertensive disease development with left ventricle hypertrophy in patients with stress job factors is performed by isolation of polymorphous DNA-loci from whole blood by polymerase chain reaction followed by detection of amplificated fragments by means of electrophoresis and visualization in ultraviolet transilluminator, influence of gene polymorphism is determined by means of variance analysis, and when D allel and D/D genotype are detected the development of hypertensive disease with left ventricle hypertrophy is predicted.
