A method for the determination of the levels of stresses and deformations in material at elastic-plastic strain includes operations on material hardness testing, by values of that mechanical characteristics of material are calculated. The sample of material under investigation in initial state, from which the article is made, undergoes tests at increase of load in steps according to the scheme of elastic-plastic strain. At each step of loading massif measurement of the values of hardness of the sample is carried out under conditions of load and without load, with plotting calibration dependences between the calculated parameters of scattering of the values obtained for hardness and the values of the levels of stresses and deformations of material. Real values of the levels of stresses and deformations in material at different schemes of elastic-plastic deformation in the process of production of the article or at specific stages of operating time under working load or in not loaded state are realized through comparison of the parameters of spread of measured values of hardness to respective values of calibration dependences, by those mechanical characteristics of material are calculated.
