SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REDUCING TRIAL REQUESTS AND BACKLOG OF COURT CASES

Systems and methods are provided for scheduling a hearing for a court case.Information identifying a case and an official associated with the case isobtained. Adate for scheduling the hearing within a short interval is determined byobtaining asuitable date where the suitable date is selected to be a date on which theofficial isscheduled to appear for other hearings and where there is sufficient unusedcourt time(slack) for the addition of the new case. The system provides for assignmentof eachofficial to the backlog of cases on a rotation basis (for example, 2-4 weekcycles) andleaving sufficient slack in these schedules for the backlogs to permit theinsertion of newcases into these schedules.
