CIGARETTE PAPER ADDITIVE HAVING HARM-REDUCTION FUNCTION AND USE THEREOF

A cigarette paper additive having a harm-reduction function and use thereof, the additive comprising an alkali metal salt of butane tetracarboxylic acid or cyclobutane tetracarboxylic acid, and being prepared by reacting the butane tetracarboxylic acid or cyclobutane tetracarboxylic acid with an alkali. The use thereof is: uniformly adding an aqueous solution of different concentrations containing the additive into the cigarette paper with a metering rod type film transfer sizing machine in the sizing process during cigarette paper production. The produced cigarette paper is used to produce cigarettes, can effectively reduce the amount of CO, phenol and tar released in mainstream smoke, thus having better harm-reduction and tar-reduction effects. The method of the present invention is simple, does not require changing existing cigarette paper production processes, and has a low cost, thus having a better industrial application value.
