Provided are a water reducer intermediate, a preparation method therefor, a water reducer prepared by using the same, and applications of the water reducer. The method for preparing the water reducer intermediate comprises: an alkoxylation reaction; adding glycidol in a product obtained after the alkoxylation reaction, the glycidol reacting with the product till the average molecular weight of the product is 400-5000, and the molar ratio of the glycidol to the initiator is 3-32:1. No organic solvent is used in the process of preparing the water reducer intermediate, and it is easy to operate; the prepared water reducer intermediate is of diverse structures, is adjustable in the amphipathic property, is controllable in the molecular weight and degree of branching, has the copolymerization activity, and can be copolymerized with different unsaturated monomers. The prepared water reducer has low slump loss, desirable slump-prevention performance, and high water reducing rate, and further can be well mixed with the concrete, so that the mixture has low viscosity, is not sticky, is not hardened, and can be easily pumped.
