This hybrid construction machine is provided with: a hydraulic device including a pump; a regenerative device which generates electricity using energy discharged from the hydraulic device; a non-volatile memory having, stored therein, state information indicating whether a state of the hydraulic device and/or the regenerative device is normal or abnormal; a detection unit for detecting the state; a state determination unit which generates state information indicating whether the detected state is normal or abnormal; an information comparison unit which compares content of the state information generated by the state determination unit, with content of the state information stored in the non-volatile memory, to determine whether said content is the same; and an update unit which, in cases when a comparison result from the information comparison unit indicates a difference between the content, writes, in the non-volatile memory, the state information generated by the state determination unit.
