The present invention provides a method for preparing a silicon-modified ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst, the method comprising the following steps: (1) dissolving a silicon source in a solvent, and obtaining a precursor solution; (2) adding the ZSM-5 zeolite to the precursor solution to form a suspension; (3) while stirring, raising the temperature and evaporating the suspension, then drying and baking the obtained solid; (4) extrusion molding or spray drying the baked solid powder. The present invention also provides a method for obtaining, by means of the described method, silicon-modified ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst and using the catalyst to prepare by methanol an alkene. By using the catalyst of the present invention, significantly improved C₃ and C₄ alkene selectivity can be obtained.
