Matrix for immobilization of radioactive waste comprising at least one alkali metal salts, comprises: alkali borosilicate comprising 0.7-1.5 moles per one mole of silica alkali oxide and 0.15-1 moles of boric anhydride (B 2O 3) per mole of alkali oxide; at least one oxide matrix for protecting and stabilizing a corrosion comprising 0.05-0.1 moles per mole of alkali oxide; a complementary mixture of oxides comprising 0.8-2 mole per mole of alkali metal oxide comprising at least one metal oxide, where the mixture is involved in the formation of the matrix to obtain both easier fusion and better water resistance. An independent claim is included for immobilizing the radioactive waste comprising: initial pretreatment of the radioactive waste; mixing the pretreated radioactive waste with the final devitrified product; calcining and then melting the mixture at a temperature of below 1050[deg] C to obtain a me and cooling the melt to obtain the immobilized matrix.
