HIGH SPEED MANUFACTURING METHOD OF TYLENOL USING MICROWAVE UNDER SOLVENTLESS CONDITION

Through an experimental study, Tylenol is synthesized with an eco-friendly method by using a new method irradiating 4-aminophenol and glacial acid mixture with microwaves under a solventless condition. By the method, the reaction time of the conventional Tylenol-manufacturing method is remarkably reduced to 4 minutes from 2 hours. The reaction yield is improved by 50 % or more than that of the conventional method. From the study, a new fact that inserting a test tube into a beaker filled with alumina and conducting reaction can prevent overheating is obtained. The study provides a new fact that, in a heating method, a sequential irradiation method is more effective than a continuous microwave irradiation. In a dehydration condensation, a heating with microwaves is very effective. If Tylenol is generated with the new method, a domestic new medicine development which faces a difficulty due to Korea-USA FTA will find a solution, and a Le Chatelier law in a high school chemistry class can be easily proved, thereby being used for a good practical exercise in the chemistry class.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
