The present invention relates to an apparatus and a technique for selectively and effectively compressing energy for a wireless multimedia sensor network and comprises the processes of: registering a dynamic area changed between the previous frame and the present frame in a multimedia transmission frame; comparing a cluster area including the dynamic area changed between the previous frame and the present frame in the multimedia transmission frame; generating a new cluster or adding the dynamic area to the corresponding cluster through comparison; executing compression for the cluster and the new cluster; and transmitting the compressed information to a destination through the wireless multimedia sensor network. According to the present invention, energy consumed in data transmission is reduced by selectively compressing the multimedia data.
