The present invention relates to a composition including a black tea extract. Specifically, according to the present invention, a medicinal herb extract obtained by an aqueous ethanol solution maceration method has an increased content of gallic acid which is an active ingredient and indicator ingredient of black tea, in comparison with medicinal herb extracts obtained by an existing hydrothermal extraction method and an existing thermal ethanol extraction method. Furthermore, the black tea extract obtained by the aqueous ethanol solution maceration method has excellent effects on the reduction of body weight and body fat, the alleviation of fatty liver, the regulation of blood sugar, and the reduction of blood cholesterol in a high fat diet-induced obese mouse model. Therefore, the black tea extract obtained by the aqueous ethanol solution maceration method can be practically used as an active ingredient of a pharmaceutical composition and health food which are useful for the prevention and treatment of obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and hyperlipidemia.
