The purpose of the present invention is to provide a leakproof device for a bridge expansion joint and a construction method for the same to facilitate the installation and the construction of a leakproof device when a space between the slabs of a bridge is as narrow as 20-50 mm; to ensure the permanent service life of the leakproof device; and to prevent water leaks through the space between the slabs in a heavy rain.
