Provided is a composition containing soyasaponin combined with DDMP (2,3-dihydro-2,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl-4H-pyran-4-one) as an active ingredient for preventing or treating obesity or lipid related metabolic diseases. The soyasaponin combined with the DDMP according to the present invention effectively inhibits the differentiation of preadipocytes to adipocytes and lipid accumulation occurring in the differentiation of preadipocytes to adipocytes and downregulates the expression of transcription factors related to the differentiation of preadipocytes to adipocytes. Thus, the soyasaponin combined with the DDMP according to the present invention can be useful for preventing or treating the obesity and lipid related metabolic diseases including fatty liver, type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular disease, arteriosclerosis, and lipid related metabolic syndrome.
