The system has a gripping device for gripping a belay rope (1), where the device is in shape of open channel (2) for receiving another belay rope (3). The gripping device has a guiding portion (4) for guiding the former belay rope. The guiding portion includes a series of push buttons (5) in an axis transverse to movement of the latter rope. The guiding portion includes a fixing arm for fixing the guiding portion at automatic position. The push buttons exert lateral force to the belay rope. The channel receives adjustable compression according to type of the rope.
