The method involves engraving a pattern in a canvas sheet by transfer of the pattern, and spreading powder over the canvas in order to reveal the pattern. The pattern is printed on the canvas according to the pattern revealed by the powder. Embroidery (8) is formed on the canvas according to the printed pattern by a wire comprising a precious metal e.g. gold, silver or plate, or an alloy. A copy sheet including the pattern is superimposed on the canvas. The canvas is drilled across the copy according to the pattern.
