The method involves generating a plasma (3) by bombarding a target (2) with laser radiation, where a particle radiation (4) and an electromagnetic secondary radiation (5) are formed from the plasma. The secondary radiation resulting with the plasma generation is assembled, time-synchronizingly delayed and is finally coupled in the particle radiation. The secondary radiation is focused on an assembling point in the direction of propagation of the particle radiation, and the focused secondary radiation is decoupled from the particle radiation for time-synchronized delay. An independent claim is included for a device for generating a laser-excited particle radiation in the mega electron volt-range.
