The test apparatus has an airbag module (4) that is provided with a weft channel (3) for taking the air bag cover to investigate the interaction between an airbag and the airbag cover when the airbag is deployed so that the influence of airbag cover of a patch on the passenger airbag of a motor car is simulated. The airbag cover is provided with an axle (5) and pivotable flap (2). The airbag is opened by the pivotable flap during deployment. The pivoting movement resistance unit is arranged to oppose an adjustable mechanical resistance against the flap to open the airbag.
