The method involves determining a control pattern for controllable switching elements (UH/UL, VH/VL, WH/WL) based on target voltage by applying spatial vector modulation process. Dead times of the controllable switching elements and compensation voltages are accounted for delay times in the determination of the control pattern. Balancing voltages before feedthrough of the spatial vector modulation process with the default voltages are charged. Attitude borders for the controllable shift elements in the form of maximum voltages are accounted for the default voltages. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a power converter arrangement (2) a computer program having a set of instructions to perfom a method for controlling a power converter (3) a machine-readable memory medium having a set of instructions to perfom a method for controlling a power converter.
