The backlash-free or low-backlash gear drive has slots or elastic shaped recesses, such as meander grooves, which are introduced in the vicinity of teeth of gears (3) or gear racks and compensates the thermal expansion, which is caused by friction, by deformation. The recesses traversed by a cooling medium are arranged at an angle to a rotational axis, so that a flow of the medium is generated similar to a ventilator (2). The recesses dissipates the heat of friction.
