The display device (10) has a screen unit (12) with multiple pixels and a screen surface (14). The pixels are individually actively controlled for representing an on-screen display on the screen surface. The display device also has projector units (16,18) whose projection directions are aligned on the screen surface. The projector units are formed to project a projector display on the screen surface of the screen unit. The projector display is different from the on-screen display. An independent claim is included for a method for representing a display on a display device of a motor vehicle.
