The device (7) has a determining unit (71) determining actual rotation moments from a rotational torque field (74) or an efficiency field. The determining unit determines target torque and an associated pivoting angle of an axial piston machine (1) from the torque or efficiency fields. A setting unit (72) adjusts the axial piston machine on the base of a determination result from the determining unit in such a manner that target rotational torque is reached. The torque or efficiency fields are set in dependence of sizes of pressure or temperature of hydraulic oil.
