The method involves detecting information of a location of a transport unit (10) i.e. wagon train, and transmitting detected location information to a processing unit. An acceleration value of the transport unit is detected by an acceleration sensor (40). The detected acceleration value is transmitted to the processing unit. The acquired optical information is transmitted to the processing unit where the acquired location information of the location of the transport unit is recorded in the processing unit, when the detected acceleration value of the sensor exceeds a predetermined value. An independent claim is also included for a transport unit.
