Conversion element comprises: a support element (16) having a recess which extends from a first major surface (18) to a second major surface (20) of the support element, and a conversion agent which is adapted to convert at least a portion of a primary radiation (12) incident on the conversion agent into a secondary radiation with a greater wavelength different from the primary radiation. The conversion agent is at least partially arranged on or in the cavity, and sintered to at least one surface region of the support element. Independent claims are also included for: (1) lamps comprising at least one conversion element and at least one semiconductor chip (10) designed as a laser diode or light-emitting diode, where electromagnetic radiation emitted from the semiconductor chip is at least partly converted into a radiation of a lower frequency by the conversion agent; and (2) producing a conversion element, comprising providing a support element or a green compact as a base for a support element, applying green compact as the basis for a conversion agent or applying a powder dispersion as a basis for the conversion agent on at least one surface region of the support element or on the green compact serving as a base for the support element, and sintering the resulting composite.
