The method involves driving an actuator with the current pulses (10) corresponding to a desired actuator position by obtaining the specification of voltage pulses (24) with the predetermined pulse parameter, by an operation solenoid. The voltage pulses are overlapped with the overlapping pulses (26). The pulse length (30,34) of the overlapping pulses is set less than the pulse length of the voltage pulses to adjust the voltage pulses associated with the predetermined slope of the current pulses. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for calculating duration and level of the overlapping pulses; and (2) a control device for controlling operation solenoid.
