The method involves detecting register patterns of a print material (9) by a register sensor in an inspection process. Latest settings are computed for contact bodies of a clamping apparatus depending on an evaluation process. A printing plate is partly declamped relative to a circumferential direction in an adjustment process so that a front clamping device and a rear clamping device remain clamped.
