The method involves automatically determining a position of a motor vehicle (19), and transferring a data from the vehicle to a control unit (14). A type of the motor vehicle or a characteristic of the motor vehicle is indicated by the data. A position of a movably arranged inductor (40) of the vehicle is determined relative to a reference point of the motor vehicle, where a position or selection of another inductor is determined based on the position of the motor vehicle or the position of the former inductor of the motor vehicle relative to the motor vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a device for positioning or selecting loading inductors.
