The follower (1) has two side walls (3) connected with each other by a cross beam (2). The side walls include a bearing point (4) to swivel-movable support on an opposite environment construction, and a cam counter-bearing surface (5) is provided at an underside (6) of the cross beam at an end (7), and a contact system (8) immediately contacts with a sequence link and is provided with a single-piece component of the cross beam. A cathedral or lens-like projection part extends away from the underside of the cross beam, where the follower consists of steel sheet. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a cam follower.
