The intelligent emergency call system has one or more control transmitters attached in a non-hazardous area and in a hazardous area. The control transmitters emit control signals corresponding to the areas. A receiver contained in the personal monitoring unit measures the field strength of the incoming control signals and thus detects which control transmitter and which area is closer to draw conclusion about a possible alarm release. The personal monitoring unit is equipped with a manual control for manual alarm triggering.
